Introducing the author of “Schindler’s List”

A Memorable Experience

Being asked by the Fort Worth Jewish community to introduce Thomas Keneally, author of Schindler’s List, was a remarkable occasion. Barry did not know how he was chosen for this honor. When speaking on the occasion, he simply said that what Mr. Schindler did to save lives was the Right Thing.

According to Barry,

“This is when we see that the truth rescues the fact. In the mind of God, how deplorable would it have been to have allowed the children to have been killed, and to let a fact of a religious designation stand in the way of saving lives.”

So, in this marvelous situation with Mr. Keneally, Barry said “surely this is holy ground”, and took off his shoes.
